“Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee…” Frances Ridley Havergal, 1874
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
These words begin a favorite hymn that has stood the test of time and still calls to us in new ways. We have been blessed with gifts beyond all we can ask or imagine and our faithful response is to offer ourselves in service to God. This year’s annual generosity campaign, Take My Life, is based on this hymn.
On September 25th we will begin a five-week campaign, exploring how we as a congregation can give our voice, our life, our hands, our will, and our gifts as we learn how to become more faithful stewards and explore what it means to offer ourselves in service to God. We hope you will be present each week as we work and study together. On October 23rd we will join together to present our commitments of giving in support of the ministry and mission to which we are called as St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
We want your time and talent this year more than ever. We are all blessed with gifts and what better place to develop and use those than right here at St. Andrews. This is what makes us a church and it is what we were instructed in the scripture to support with our tithe, time, and talent. Annual generosity is about the gifts and treasure we have been blessed with and returning to God the first portion of all you have received.
The goal of the Annual Generosity campaign is quite simple: We want to receive pledges of gifts to support the operations of St. Andrews for 2017. The Annual Generosity funds:
- salaries and benefits for our pastoral and support staff
- support of our mission and outreach
- provide for Christian education and worship
- keep the lights on, the spaces heated and cooled
May the old, familiar hymn not just get stuck in our heads, but also in our hearts as we take our discipleship seriously and consider how we can offer our lives, our talents, our gifts, our time, and our treasures to God.
Watch for more information as our journey into faithful discipleship continues.
In Christian fellowship,
Rev. Camille LeBron Powell
