• Dr. J. Dave Kivett, Pastor - Dave Kivett celebrated the twentieth anniversary of his ordination to the ministry of word and sacrament in August of
2007. Before being called to share in ministry with us, Dave served as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville, North Carolina where he served for nine years in that small town outside of Greensboro that is home to the company that produces McDonald’s chicken nuggets. His first church was The Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green, Kentucky where he served as the associate pastor for seven years. He is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia where he received his Doctor of Ministry degree. His college years were well spent in Athens, Georgia at the University of Georgia (he does make occasional references to his alma mater since this church is blessed with its fair share of Georgia Tech graduates). Dave graduated from the College of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in economics.
Dave and his wife, Beth, have four children. Three of them are in high school – Durham, the oldest; and the twins, Sophie Ann and Jerry. The youngest child, Grace is in elementary school. In his ministry with us, Dave has encouraged regular ongoing Bible study and teaches the Grand Sweep, a walk through the Bible in one year from Genesis to Revelation. He is also active in the local community and the larger church working with others through a variety of ministries. He likes to say that when God’s people work together good things happen. And they do!
